The all-inclusive event offers an experience like no other held at the oldest permitted shooting club in the country. The outing includes gun rental, ammunition as well as a gourmet breakfast and lunch, 100 rounds of clay shooting, custom high-end event apparel, giveaways, cigars, a raffle, team awards, and whiskey and bourbon tasting. This event is perfect for entertaining clients or for team building all while supporting the Scouting program. New Jersey Council, Boy
Why Shooting Sports in Scouting are Important?
The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America’s shooting sports programs are to introduce youth to shooting in a safe and educational environment. The Council’s shooting sports committee since 2022 has trained over fifteen adult volunteers as the NRA Range Safety Offices to run and operate our ranges safely for our Scouts. Nationally, Boy Scouts of America enable Scouts and their leaders to receive hunter education cards through their Hunter Education Certification Program, held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. With proper safety instruction, shooting sports help Scouts build confidence and self-esteem and teach problem-solving skills.
The more Scouts who enjoy the BSA shooting sports program, the more future adults will understand the importance of handling firearms safely.

Matty, a Scout, loved camp and shooting sports. When he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, doctors were able to remove the tumor, but left the boy blind. After recovering, Matty attended summer camp and was able to participate fully in all camp activities, including rifle, archery, black powder shooting and even shotgun shooting. Camp staff assisted Matty to ensure the activity was safe and rewarding. He was even able to shoot moving targets with one staff member helping him aim and another tapping him on the shoulder when it was time to shoot. Matty’s story is unique but the lessons he took away from camp are not.
